The TIB video portal currently has almost 40,000 scientific videos from all disciplines and 700,000 visits per year. This blog post presents current further developments in 2022. These include easier findability of videos, an improved upload form and subtitling of videos.

New in the AV-Portal: two documentaries on the life, work and aftermath of the Göttingen based physicist Robert Wichard Pohl give popular experiment videos with some contemporary material a science-historical background and show the (added) value of audiovisual heritage.

The AV-Portal celebrates its 4th birthday! Today, more than 1,000 visitors from all over the world watch one or more of 14,000 scientific videos every day.

➔Freely available: more than 500 new video recordings of various conferences are permanently available in TIB’s AV Portal and can be cited.
➔An informative workshop on “Videos in Digital Libraries: What’s in it for Libraries, Publishers and Scientists?” took place during the conference “Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries” (TPDL) at Hannover Congress Centrum on 8 September 2016. The aim of the workshop was to initiate a discussion on the use and potential of videos as a method of scholarly communication, and was thus directed at researchers, science communicators, publishers and libraries.
